With the turmoil we are experiencing world wide and specifically in South Africa at the moment, we easily forget to take deep breaths.
Breathing with intention helps sooth your nervous system and ground you.
Taking a few minutes, a few times a day to take 5 deep inhales and exhales helps you check in with yourself and regroup, refocus and release some tension held in our bodies.
Weather you are sitting behind your desk, standing in line somewhere or stuck in traffic, try and take 3 minutes to breathe intentionally. Sit up straight, place palms on your knees or if possible right palm on your chest and left palm onto your lower abdomen and breathe. 5 deep inhales and exhales.
A simple and short way to come back to yourself.
In Summer, we gathered in community while physically distancing.
We flowed, slowly and with intention guided by our breath at the foot of Table Mountain overlooking the sea.
We were held and protected by nature and gently, slowly released the heaviness we as a collective have been carrying.
These moments and spaces of breath and stillness are vital to our individual and collective healing.
